There are professional matches of “pilota valenciana” (Valencian traditional sport) on thursdays and saturdays at 16:30 and 18:00.
Opened the 20th of August of 1868 and became an icon in the Valencian traditional sport “pilota”. Eventually it became known as “The Cathedral”.
During many years it was the only place remaining where “pilota” was played in Valencia.
In 1976 the building was restructured, becoming an indoor arena with artificial light and more confortable seats. At some point the “trinquet” was about to shut down. It was then when Jose Luis Lopez decided to acquire the sports complex. This news became public in October 2015 in “Les Carts”. By acquiring the “trinquet”, José Luis López was reassuring its survival.
Since the 7th October 2017, the Trinquet Pelayo became Pelayo Gastro Trinquet, a fusion of sport, gastronomy and culture.
